What stood out most for me was the balance between competition and chemistry. The tension between the characters isn’t just about the sport—it carries into every interaction, which keeps the story engaging from start to finish. The story explores different relationship dynamics: they are rivals and enemies, teammates, friends, lovers.
One thing I found particularly important was how the author made the shift from rivals to lovers feel believable, without losing the competitiveness and rivalry that drives their dynamic.

The pacing worked well, especially as the relationship begins to shift. I found myself getting more invested in the character dynamics the deeper I got into the story.
I read both the ARC and the ALC so that I could properly and honestly review both versions. I found that the ALC loses some of the effect of the news articles and the fan posts that reading the ARC emphasizes.
That being said, I really enjoyed the narration by Lindsey Dorcus and Elena Rey. Their voices definitely lent to the story as they portrayed characters from different parts of the world.
