Last week, I went to my husband’s niece’s wedding in Northern California, near San Francisco, while Nichole stayed home with the doggies and cat.  We were just there for the weekend but honestly we felt like we packed for a whole week.  Going for the weekend required so much preparation, especially when trying to decide what to wear for the rehearsal dinner and the wedding.

Finding clothes for a wedding is difficult to do because we never know exactly what to wear for such an occasion.  You never want to upstage the bride, so white is out of the question and it’s sometimes hard to tell if the event requires more casual wear or more formal wear.  You probably end up calling every person you know that is attending the wedding asking what they are going to wear.

I was going to wear a blue dress.  I was so thankful that I didn’t, because the bridesmaids wore blue, my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law wore blue.

It’s a good idea to ask what the theme color of the wedding is so that you don’t wear the same color.  Nothing is worse than looking like you are in the wedding party when you are not.  So, I ended up wearing black. One can never go wrong with black and I remembered that at my wedding everyone wore black as well, so I went for it.  I am more of a pant girl so my outfit was a black dressy jump suit as an alternative to a dress paired with a string of natural pearls that my mother gave me for my birthday one year. Simple and elegant.

My little boy was the ring bearer in the wedding and he wore a nice suit with a blue tie that matched the wedding party.  I think it’s easier for a man to dress for a special occasion, because all he has to do is find a nice shirt, tie and suit.  If only dress shopping were so simple!  My husband wore a dark navy suit and was very comfortable and chic. The wedding was beautiful, the bride and groom looked exquisite, the food was yummy, and the venue was dreamy.  The ceremony and reception took place at a vineyard, called Wine and Roses. It was very romantic and we had an amazing time.  I haven’t been to a wedding in a long time and this was a lot of fun and very special to us being that our niece got married to her high school sweetheart.
